Another Funny Friday
Shopping for plants in a new garden center, we asked an employee whether the store offered any kind of guarantee if the plants didn't survive. "Oh, yes," she responded, "it's printed on the back of the receipts." Satisfied, we completed our purchase and left. It wasn't until we got home that we actually read the receipt. It stated: "We guarantee our plants to grow--
or die trying." Lee Powell in Thomasville, GA.

SPRING FEVER AND FLOWERS
I caught Spring Fever! Dad and I were at the Arizona Temple yesterday. As I admired and viewed the beautiful flowers and spring colors surrounding the temple I caught the fever. Today I had to go to Home Depot to buy some plants to plant in patio pots. Tomorrow I will plant them. Dad hopes I get over the fever and not buy any more plants.

EASTER MEMORIES

I hope you can read the program. (click on it to enlarge)
The music was beautiful (like a choir of angels).
Lloyd D. Newell's words "SPRING ALWAYS COMES"
was so appropriate for the day.
We thank Sheila and Ted for taking us to the Tabernacle in Salt Lake City
to attend this special way to think of and worship our RISEN SAVIOR

Music and Lyrics by Charles H. Gabriel
Arrangement and Additional lyrics by Sally DeFord
I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me
Confused at the grace that so fully he proffers me
I tremble to know that for me he was crucified
That for me, a sinner, he suffered, he bled and died
Chorus:
Oh, it is wonderful that he should care for me enough to die for me
Oh, it is wonderful
Wonderful to me
I marvel that he would descend from his throne divine
To rescue a soul so rebellious and proud as mine
That he should extend his great love unto such as I
Sufficient to own, to redeem and to justify
I think of his hands, pierced and bleeding to pay my debt
Such mercy, such love and devotion can I forget?
No, no, I will praise and adore at the mercy seat
Until at the glorified throne I kneel at his feet
I stand all amazed at the love Jesus offers me
Secure in the promise of life in his victory
Thus ransomed from death I will live to my Savior's praise
And sing of his goodness and mercy through endless days
This arrangement is part of the I Stand All Amazed cantata.

Carrie (Falcone) Lax
When I realized that today is March 10th, I cannot help but think of Carrie (Falcone) Lax, Ron's mother, because it is her birth date. Thoughts of her brings to my mind many happy times. The birth of Sidney yesterday, brings thoughts of the birth of my first child and grandmas' help. My mother came to spend time with Ron and I about a week before Ronna's birth on Feb. 20th, 1953. She stayed for the birth and then Ron's mother came to help me with our new little baby. She committed to stay until Ronna's belly buttom attachment dried up and fell off . Ron aways teased her about picking at it so it would fall off sooner and she could go home. That was not true. Carrie had recently completed training and was a certified "Practical Nurse". I was thankful for her help. I came across the picture below yesterday. It shows another happy time spent with Carrie (Mama). It was Christmas 1954 being spent with Ron's family at Carrie and Joe's house in Sunnyside. I can assure you that there was a delicious coconut cake made from scratch by Mama. A christmas tradition. Joe helped by shredding the fresh coconut for the icing. Ron and Mama are sitting on the sofa. Cousin Karen, Ronna, and cousin Nancy are sitting on the floor. Precious memories.

OKAY - TAGGED AGAIN - HERE I GO
1. When I was a teenager I wore braces on my teeth because they protruded
Lucky for me the braces did not keep my husband-to-be from dating me.
2. I and a friend who attended school with me from Kindergarden thru
High school graduation were voted to be Queen and King of one high
School dance.
3. When a young girl I was a Brownie and a Girl Scout. I especially liked
summer Girl Scout Camp.
4. I loved to swim. I passed the Red Cross test that qualified me to be a
lifeguard. So I was the lifeguard for a camp for one summer. Ron came
to visit for a week-end but since his car got stuck in the mud he spent
two extra days getting it out of the mud.
5. After I married I lived with my husband near the Ohio State University
campus and got a job as a clerk-typist at the Ohio State Univ. Alumni
House. My job was to update alumni information-new addresses and
news items about the alumni which were kept on file. After Ronna was
born I was allowed to work in the office after work hours while watching
and attending to Ronna who was in a near by playpen. The bosses liked
and trusted me and were very kind to me.
