HUMANITARIAN DAY

Church members gathered last Saturday to work on local humanitarian projects. We do this every year. What joy it gives us to serve others in this way. I thought maybe family would like to see what we do.
Merrilee, Sister Bottomly and Crissy and I were in charge of seeing that picture, ABC, and Number Books were made. We had a lot of children participate in this project but their parents enjoyed doing it, too.

When the books are assembled they are delivered to places like Headstart and Day Centers for pre school children, La Mesita, Crisis Center and Senior Day Centers.

SERVICE PROJECTS

Below is a picture of ladies making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for the Homeless. They are given to a local charity called Paz de Christo Community Center where the sandwiches are distributed.
This lady is packing boxes with donated supplies for La Mesito, a place where homeless families stay for free while they look for a home and get a job to support their selfs and families. These are some of the supplies that are needed toilet tissue, shampoo, razors, diapers, combs, toothbrushs and tooth paste
This project of stuffing bears, is a favorite one. Our children love to stuff pre-sewn bears as they sit on the floor. The bears are donated to the town police department. The police carry the bears in their police cars and use them to comfort a distressed child and , of course, the child gets to keep it.
The Bears' stack is getting higher and higher.

QUILT TYING

We are proud of our scouts and men who also tied quilts with quilt knots
We have 7 Wards and 3 Branches in our Church Stake and each one was assigned to tie 2 quilts.
The above quilt is one that our ladies tied and the one below is the other one that we tied.
These tied quilts will be turned over to our church Humanitarian Center and then will be given to any person in need of warmth and comfort. One does not have to be a church member to receive a quilt.

You are Tagged

I was tagged by Sheila. I am suppose to go to "My Pictures" and open the
third folder and the third picture and post it. So that is what I am asking you to do. Shauna, Ronald, and Ronna

I am confused so I chose the folder that was the 3rd one from the top and the third picture. (most recent folder). Then I thought maybe I should go up from the bottom of my file and picked the 3rd folder and the 3rd picture of an old picture of Bruce and Joanie.

This is my third folder up & third picture

Bruce (Ron's younger brother) and Joanie his wife. This was taken a long time ago. If I could read the calendar on the wall I could tell you what year this picture was taken.

A Picture for SandySeaShells

This reminds me of the beaches of Lake Michigan that I played on when I was a child and later when I took my girls to swim and play.
