One in sunglasses has the youngest family baby boy. The one in a jacket with hearts on it is a family singer. News has traveled to me that she has just won a singing contest and the prize is a cruise. Two ladies that I talked to today informed me that the singer won the contest. Good for who?

This is how I spent my time on the beach-watching the family (usually under an umbrella). Sheila was normally in the ocean with the rest of the family.

Above I caught Anna on her way to the Beach House and got this photo. Brandi, Matt and I are on one of the porches.

Yes I now have the New Pisca and currently have photos from Sandy's camera card. I need a new camera to get my own photos. The picture of Ron fishing is a scanned photo. Now I can scan old photos that are stored in lots of boxes in my closets. The fisherman , Ron's photo, was mailed to me from Linda Beckwith. Her husband is Jim Beckwith, Sandy Wilmot's brother. Jim and Linda lived in Minnesota by a lake and Jim was an avid fisherman. We stopped to visit them on a returning trip from Indiana ( and the year we stopped to visit Curtiss when on his mission in Wisconsin.) Jim took us fishing on the lake and cooked fish for us that evening. As you can see it was a happy time. Jim passed on last winter ice fishing. Linda had taken the photos of us and discover she had made duplicates for us which she just recently sent to me. I thank her for them. I especially like the one of Ron.

TJ graduated from Seminary

Then he graduated from his E.M.T. program.

Yesterday, he graduated from high school.

After the graduation ceremony

we headed over to Market Street Grill

for lunch.

Much to my dismay,

Sheila tagged my birthday on to TJ's graduation celebration.

I felt like this was TJ's day and his day only

but sometimes Sheila is bossy and said

TJ would share his big day.

I was showered with love

a bouquet of sunflowers and a survival gift bag for our upcoming trip to the beach.
Baylee surprised me with a sweet cupcake with a strawberry on top.

Then I shared a giant slice of chocolate cake

(otherwise known as "The Lady")

It was a good day.

This is a bit of my history.
This is where I shopped when I was in my teens.

There were no Malls in those days.

At that Walgreen Drug store pictured, memories flow of when my mom took me there to eat my first dining out meal. I remember having a hot beef sandwich-beef on white bread with gravy on top.

You will see a Penneys Store pictured above. My Aunt Amy worked there. I always had to stop in and say "Hi"

Cousin Davey lives close to that now in a historic house.

Now, most of those stores are no longer there.

I rode a bus from the corner of my block to Hammond. You will see lots of buses and we rode them a lot. Before my older teen years I would often shop there with my mother.

Thanks to my friend Sandra W. for sending me these old photo's.
It stirred many tender, happy memories.
And to this site for posting the images.

He is light, love, longevity, and Lord.
He is goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.
He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.

His ways are right,
His word is eternal,
His will is unchanging, and His mind is on me.
He is my Savior,
He is my guide, and He is my peace!
He is my Joy,
He is my comfort,
He is my Lord, and He rules my life!

I serve Him because His bond is love,
His burden is light, and His goal for me is abundant life.

I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise,
the power of the powerful,
the ancient of days, the ruler of rulers, the leader of leaders, the overseer of the overcomers, and is to come. And if that seems impressive to you, try this for size.

His goal is a relationship with ME!
He will never leave me,
never forsake me,
never mislead me,
never forget me,
never overlook me and
never cancel my appointment in His appointment book!

When I fall, He lifts me up!
When I fail, He forgives!
When I am weak, He is strong!
When I am lost, He is the way!
When I am afraid, He is my courage!
When I stumble, He steadies me!
When I am hurt, He heals me!
When I am broken, He mends me!
When I am blind, He leads me!
When I am hungry, He feeds me!
When I face trials, He is with me!
When I face persecution, He shields me!
When I face problems, He comforts me!
When I face loss, He provides for me!
When I face Death, He carries me Home!

He is everything for everybody everywhere, every time, and every way.

He is God, He is faithful. I am His, and He is mine!

My Father in heaven can whip the father of this world.
So, if you're wondering why I feel so secure, understand this...

He said it and that settles it.
God is in control, I am on His side,
and that means all is well with my soul.

Everyday is a blessing for GOD Is!

MARCH BLEW BY FAST.

The month of March blew by fast for me. Having out of town visitors along with my Arizona families with me in March kept me busy and happy. The first of March, Sandy and Greg left Salt Lake City for a drive and surprised me by ending up at my front door . They spent a couple of days visiting with me, Curtiss & Jen & Kempton and Brooke. We all attended our annual Sunland Springs Bar B Q --me, Pat and Merrilee, Curtiss, Jen, and the grandkids and Sandy and Greg. They had to leave and then Ronna flew over from California for a week-end. She spent a few days with me and Vallerie. My blood pressure medicine was making my feet, ankles and legs swell so I had an appointment with a doctor who changed my medicine and ordered a Echo test and blood test.. (I have a follow up appointment tomorrow to see the test results). The swelling went down when I changed the pills.
I had lunch on Tuesday with a friend of Dad and I (Jay Carpenter) who lived in AZ, left here and has moved back. The next day, I also had lunch with Kitty and Marvin Fox at Vito's. Next day, I spent two days with Val getting stuff ready for a "Garage Sale" at my house. It was mostly her stuff and she did well. Robyn dropped by that evening and brought Val and I two Delicious cup cakes. She went to Scottsdale to get the cup cakes because they were the most delicious cup cakes she ever tasted and she was right. They were-soo sweet & melt when in one's mouth. Brandi and Lexi and Anna then came for 10 days (Spring Vacation). They stayed with me but were busy visiting with both sides of their families and friends. Pat & Merrilee took their kids out for Pizza and bowling one night. I went along and bowled, too. They ( and me) were surprised when I could pick up the ball and actually hit some pins down. I did make one strike and two spares. On another night our side of Brandi's family met at Peter Piper for pizza and games for kids to play while the cousins, Robyn & Alisha, and Val, Pat & Merrilee and me visited. The last week-end Brandi, girls and me met Sandy and Greg up at Grand Canyon along with Curtiss, Jen & Kids. The weather was just right and it was a nice week-end. Brandi and I visited Jen & her girls for awhile one day. I miss them when they don't shop at Mesa's Costco because they usually stop to see me. I hope those of you who took pictures send some to Sheila. I think she could copy yours on to my blog.

I had a funny Friday to post -- but I still can not get on Picasa. If I can no longer get on picasa, I can no longer post pictures. Posting without pictures is not much to fun.

I love having visitors so let me know when you will be here. I Thank all who visited me in 2010.   Time gets by me fast but in reality I know my slowed down body and mind makes it seem that time goes by fast.

I did not make any New Year resolutions, because I did not keep them last year. I am going to try to study more scriptures (a last year resolution). I am going to concentrate mostly on the New Testament. Even, tho, I have read those scriptures before, I realize I need to refresh my memory. The various events, teachings and commandments are things I read this week and I thought I would share "highlights" .

1. Intelligence gained in this life rises with us in the resurrection.

2. All blessings come by obedience to law.     D.C. 130:18-19

3. Jesus declares He is Messias.      John 4:25-26

4. Angels do not reside on a planet like the earth.....(7)they reside in the presence of God, on a globe like a
sea of glass and fire where all things for their glory are manifest, past, present, and future and are        continually before the Lord.            D.C. 130:6-7

5. Jesus says: "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke   upon you and LEARN of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my   yoke is easy, and my burden is light."      Matthew 11:28-30 (I use to know this one by memory, I will see if I can restore it to my brain.)   Matthew 11:28-30

6. The WORD OF CHRIST leads men to eternal Life.        Alma 37

7. The gospel is preached by the power of the SPIRIT. 1 Corinthians 2:16, 1 John 3:23-24, 1 John 4:12

8. This quote is not from the scriptures. " Our greatest comfort is to know that God is in control" This
    prompts me to keep on going.

Last week, Ted, Sheila and gang rolled into town for some extended family time.

Ted sang with Shauna and Amber as guest performers at a blue grass concert. The concert featured The Red Mountain Blue Grass Band and was held at the Mesa Amphitheater. It was cold that night, but worth enduring to hear them sing. I always like to hear the girls sing with their dad.

Together, we went to one of Victoria's basket ball games. It was an exciting, close, game and Victoria scored and defended and played a good game!

Chicken Broccoli Casserole

Chicken Broccoli Casserole
(makes 8x8 pan size)

2 cans Cream of Chicken Soup
1/2 cup Mayo
1/2 cup milk
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
2 tsp Curry Powder
2 Chicken Breasts 0 cooked & shredded (or chicken from a Rotisserie Chicken)
10oz or more Broccoli Florette's (steamed)
mix in 1/2 cup cheddar/monterrey jack cheese mix

Mix all together- put in pan
Top with 1/2 cup or so of bread crumbs mixed with with 1 or 2 Tablespoons of melted butter-
Then sprinkle a little paprika on top for color and flavor.

Put in oven and bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes.

Serve over rice.

Ronna, Dennis, and Desi took me to a California beach and we had a picnic with their friends.
We also went to a Wyland Art Gallery and enjoyed the artist's art of sea fish, whales, turtles and other sea animals. He is known for painting buildings with his beautiful art. The gallery has one of his pictures on it's wall.
Dallas wanted to take me to a Kids' Museum so his Mom drove us (me, Dallas, his Mom (Trish) and his sister (lilly)to the Temecula's Museum. We had fun playing in the museum.

This was a fun and relax trip that we two traveled in June 1997. Bing Cherries were ripe and we just had to

buy them from the orchard stands along the highway.

We traveled in our chevy van, slept in it at night and cooked in camping areas. This is in Washington State. Occasionally, we spent a few nights in motels to shower and eat in a restaurant. Dad ordered crab legs and entertained the people sitting around us as he ate his first crab meal.
I popped Jiffy popcorn at night when we were camping.

I can't stop missing Ron. When summer arrived we looked forward to taking trips. We loved to travel.
My family, memories and pictures comfort me.

These pictures were taken in 2005. We were on our way to visit Bruce and Joanie in California. We stopped at Harris Ranch Hotel to spend a night and eat. This was a favorite stop of ours. A place that gave us rest, good food and happiness.

Friends of Brandi and Matt provided their beautiful home and yard to entertain us on Saturday before we left. Birthdays and anniversaries in June were celebrated.

Most everyone spent a lot of time in the pool. Great grandma had to stay out of the sun. Sitting in the shaded patio with fan above was my favorite place.

Surprise, Surprise when a Scottish man appeared playing his bagpipe. The Bagpiper was a birthday gift from Brandi to Matt (who loves to hear Bagpipers)..

Matt and Justin cooked up a Shrimp Bowl in a BIG pot. It's ingredients is shrimp, potatoes, sausage and corn on the cob. It was delicious.

Brandi had some baby pictures of those who had a birthday or anniversary in June and read facts that happen on the June dates. We played name the babies. After the game the cake was cut and served. This was Brandi's fun idea. She called her Mom ,Sandy, for help and she gathered and provided the facts that were needed. Thanks, Sandy, we wish you could have been there , too..

I got feeling sporty and Pam and Matt let me shoot some baskets. Out of 3 shots I actually made one basket. Then Pat and I played ping pong a couple of times. I can't remember the last time I played. I think Pat could not believe that I could hit the ball more than once. Of course, he would win like 21 to 4.

Her Uncle Justin talked about Baptism. Her Dad baptized Lexie. Aunt Sheila told her about the Holy Ghost.

Lexie has a very happy mother this Special day.

Brandi sewed a special bag to carry her new scriptures. She received other nice gifts.
Some were rings, a special bracelet and a ring box (to hold her rings when not wearing them).
Grandma Vanderwalker and Great Grandma picked the same cards because the girl on the cards looked like Lexi.

Charleston South Carolina

I really enjoyed being a tourist in Charleston. I was so happy to have Sheila take me there and B with me.
We ate breakfast at a place named Toast. I ate eggs, grits and country ham. Across from where we were seated was a case full of desserts. We could not help thinking of grandma Carrie's coconut cakes. We planned to come back later for a piece of coconut cake but did not get back there.

Sheila ate Crab cakes & fried green tomatoes with eggs.

Oh yes, we had to have an evening meal at Bubba Gump place. The waiter quizzed us about different
things about Forrest and Sheila answer all questions but one. She forgot Jennie's name.

Oh my goodness I just discovered that My youngest grand-daughter is taller than me.

B took a picture of me by this fountain which was in our hotel patio. We stayed in the Mill House.

We toured some sites from a mule pulled carriage. We saw beautiful old homes, gardens and churches.
Our guide was very good and told us a lot of history about what we were looking at.

I enjoyed visiting Lexi in her elemtry school. Lexi looked so beautiful while she beautifully played the piano. She certainly would have received THE BEST talent prize if one had been given and I was the judge.

Anna let me sleep in her bedroom which is so pretty and girly.
The girls also shared their pretty bathroom with me. I felt like a welcomed guest.

On my birthday the big girls took me out to a restrauant in Waxhaw and Sheila and I checked out a couple of shops in this small country town. Brandi took the little girls to a park while we shopped.

I don't like the looks of this old lady but she can't do much about that because she is 77 yrs old.
However, the flowers from Matt were so pretty. (Thanks Matt). Note, He got a bouquet with one large sunflower. He did not know that he had purchase a memorial for Ron whose favorite flower is Sunflower. Note. A delicious ice cream birthday cake with one candle and a helper to blow that candle out. The family made a happy birthday for me.

Here I am with my grand daughter, Amber, and her husband-to-be, Garrett. It is my honor to be able to be with them in the Temple yesterday. I look up to these two because of their height, but more important I look up to them for the way the have lived their lives and will join their lives in a sacred Temple marriage on Friday.

On my mind is that it has been two months and 6 days since Ron was called to the other side of the veil. He is in a spirit world and is busy there serving his Father In Heaven. He waits there for Resurrection Day. He is not alone but is with loved ones and all other spirits as they also await Resurrection Day. I, too, wait for that special day on this side of the veil that separates Ron and I at this time. I feel bad because I have not finalized parting duties. I need to send more Thank you notes, and send memorial donations to charities, and cease my mourning. I know Ron is doing fine but "my missing him" feeling is still intense. I keep as busy as I can and that gives me temporary relief. Family members and friends here in Arizona include me in many of their events and help me with chores that I struggle with. Phone calls, letters, notes, comments, cards and e-mails from out of Arizona comfort me. Prayers strengthen me. God's quails with chicks trailing behind them parade in front of my house along with cottontail bunnies criss-crossing the street from my yard to the neighbor's yard. I even got a glimpse of a road runner bird dash across my neighbor's yard. I had not seen a road runner for many years.
God is Good. GLORY be to God. HE provides comfort when needed

Drawing on memories tonight. This was a trip taken to Florida to pick up Grandma Cris who was visiting her
Sister In Law, Amy Fowler. On our way home we stopped in Orlando's EPCOT. This was in 1983.

I was lonely tonight, like most nights, and so I thought to read Dad's Calendar Book. I turned to July 10 and this is what I read: Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, and mortal life shall cease, I SHALL POSSESS , WITHIN THE VEIL, A LIFE OF JOY AND PEACE.

This is his message to me and you this night. For his sake we must find joy in our lives and give joy to one another and cherish and share the precious memories..

Happy Father's Day to My Sweetheart

I was holding the card shown below early in the month of June to give to my Ronald today. However, I won't be able to hand it to him with a kiss. So I am posting it on my blog. Who knows--maybe he will see it. I want our children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren to know that I love your Daddy/Grandpa with all my heart. I will miss him until the day I am with him again. He use to kid me and tell me "Lucky you"- meaning I was lucky to have him as my husband. Well he was right in one way, but it was more than luck, because it really was a "blessing". It was many blessings-he was my sweetheart, my companion, one who made me laugh, a provider, a loving husband and a father of our children. I was blessed because he believes in God, in Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. He joined me in worshiping God, praying, knowing Christ and striving to keep their commandments. Our family was blessed to have Ron with us for many extra years. Ron requested that he be able to stay longer with us instead of leaving at the time of his heart attack. God granted his request and thus blessed us to have him for many, many years. I look forward to being with my husband again. I love you Honey. XXXOOO

Ron received a phone call from an unknown gentleman who lived in Ohio.
He asked Ron if he was the Ronald Lax that was on the OSU Champion Wrestling Team in 1951-1952. Ron discovered that this fellow would like to have his autograph on some pictures that he got from (somewhere?) I think he collected Ohio State University athlete pictures. These are the pictures that were sent to Ron which he autographed and sent back to the gentleman. I am just as pleased as Ron is --after all these years. Such a nice surprise!
